Thanks for the pictures! How close were you to the leopard seal? Do you see them very often? The stair troll is cute? Who made it?
Are you doing anything fun for Halloween? Barbara and Daniel are home this weekend. They are carving our pumpkin.
I have a few questions about life in Antarctica. What time zone are you in? Is all of Antarctica in the same time zone? We’re changing our clocks tonight for daylight savings time. Do you do that?
    Stay warm.

i was around 200 ft from the seal. i probably could have gotten closer but we’re not supposed to go out on the ice in the area where the seal was because of pressure ridges in the ice. that was the first one i’ve seen but now i know where to look so maybe i’ll see more. i don’t kow who made the troll but i imagine it was one of the welders. there was a big party for halloween and they show a bunch of halloween type movies. they had a pumpkin decorating contest that i didn’t find out about soon enough, but some people got really creative with theres. we are in the Aukland ,NZ time zone i believe. so if its 12 noon on sunday here its 7pm saturday for you without going back for daylight savings which would make it 12n here 6pm for you. as far as i know we don’t change for daylight savings so that we stay in time with new zealand which doesn’t have daylight savings. McMurdo and the south pole are the same time and palmer station is about 16 hours behind. and i don’t know how the time works in all the stations of the other countries that are spread out around antarctica.
